A coating system fails for one of two reasons: the surface was not properly prepared, or the application conditions were outside the manufacturer's window. Both are entirely within the applicator's control, and both are why we record conditions rather than simply painting and hoping.
We apply protective coatings to tanks, holds, decks, superstructure and offshore structures to the paint manufacturer's specification, with surface preparation, ambient conditions, dew point, film thickness and overcoating intervals documented throughout.
What you get
- Airless spray, roller and brush application
- Tank, hold, deck, superstructure and offshore structure coating
- Full compatibility with major marine coating manufacturers
- Conditions, dew point and DFT recorded during application
- Spot repair through to full recoating scopes
Scope of work
What is included as standard. Anything outside this is quoted separately and flagged before mobilisation, never added afterwards.
- 01
Surface preparation
Hydroblasting, mechanical preparation or hand tool cleaning to the standard the coating specification requires.
- 02
Coating application
Primer, intermediate and topcoat applied by airless spray, roller or brush to the specified dry film thickness.
- 03
Tank and hold coating
Application of tank and hold coating systems including stripe coating of edges, welds and structural details.
- 04
Condition monitoring
Temperature, humidity, dew point and steel temperature recorded before and during application to confirm the window.
- 05
Quality documentation
DFT readings, holiday detection where specified, and a full application record issued on completion.
How we deliver it
- 01
Specification and planning
The coating system, preparation standard and application conditions are confirmed against the manufacturer's data sheets.
- 02
Preparation
Surfaces are prepared and inspected, and the substrate is accepted before any coating is opened.
- 03
Application
Coats are applied within the specified conditions and overcoating intervals, with stripe coating where required.
- 04
Inspection and handover
Dry film thickness is measured, defects are rectified, and the application record is issued.
Frequently asked
Can painting be done on board rather than in dry dock?
Yes, for most internal and above-waterline scopes, provided the ambient conditions can be kept within the coating's window. Humidity and dew point are the practical limits, not the location.
Do you supply the paint?
We can supply it, or apply owner-supplied material. Many operators prefer to supply their own under an existing manufacturer agreement, and that works perfectly well for us.
