Deferred maintenance compounds. Every voyage the ship's crew cannot get to the deck backlog, the list gets longer and the steel gets worse, until what was a painting job becomes a steel renewal job.

A riding squad breaks that cycle. We put a multi-skilled team on board for a defined period to work solely on the maintenance backlog — descaling, surface preparation, painting, minor fabrication and general upkeep — while the ship's crew continues to run the ship.

How we deliver it

  1. 01

    Work list and scoping

The maintenance backlog is reviewed and prioritised into a realistic programme for the squad size and duration.

  2. 02

    Crew documentation

Certification, medicals, visas and flag-state approvals are prepared ahead of the join port or mobilisation window.

  3. 03

    Deployment

Squad joins, completes familiarisation, and works under the vessel's or asset's permit-to-work system.

  4. 04

    Handover

Completed work is inspected and signed off with a photographic close-out report.

Frequently asked

How long can a riding squad stay on board?

Anything from a two-week campaign to a rotation running several months. Duration is set by the work list and by crew rotation and rest-hour rules, which we plan for rather than discover halfway through.
